FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone is centred to the south of New Zealand. Forecast:

Canterbury.—Moderate winds from the easterly quarter predominating; widespread cloud and scattered light rain at first; cool. Marlborough.—South easterlies about Cook Strait strong at first but decreasing slowly in eastern parts; elsewhere moderate winds from between south and east; cloudy and rather cool with scattered light rain at first then tending to clear.

Nelson.—Light or moderate variable winds apart from fresh easterlies about Golden Bay; a few fog patches but mostly fine and mild.

Buller and Westland.—Light or moderate variable winds; fine apart from a few patches of fog; mild during the day. Outlook.—All districts: mainly fair. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
