Signs
Sir, —The City Council proposes to restrict the area of signs on buildings, and I assure them of my wholehearted support. It is a pity the council does not insist on good grammar and spelling as well as reasonable size. What do your readers think of the following: “Ajustment bay,” “Primest Quality” (Ugh!), “Our mutton values are cheapest on earth”? And what, for goodness sake, is a “superette” or a “Fruiterama”? These awful perpetrations should be banned outright.—Yours, etc., PURIST, February 20, 1969.
