Evidence Of Gun Deal
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20.
The gun with which Senator Robert Kennedy was assassinated on June 5 of last year was sold to Sirhan Bishara Sirhan for SUS2S in a street-corner deal four months earlier, the court trying the Jordanian-born immigrant for murder was told by witnesses for the prosecution yesterday Ten witnesses gave evidence on the fourth day of the trial, bringing the number who have testified so far to 33: and there are hopes that the trial may end well within *he two months predicted. The prosecution, in its opening statement, said it could call between 60 and 80 witnesses, although counsel added: “Mercifully, it may not come that high.” Sirhan’s lawyers admit he fired the gun that killed Senator Kennedy, but they are hoping to save him from the death penalty with an insanity plea.
