INQUIRY ON CULT’
Sittings Where Required (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 19. The Commission of Inquiry into Scientology would be prepared to sit anywhere that justice required it, subject to administrative detail, the commission chairman (Sir Guy Powles) said today. Any decision as to whether sittings could be held in other centres than Auckland could not be made until after February 28—the day by which all persons wishing to give evidence must notify the commission in Wellington. Anyone wishing to give evidence should write to the secretary stating what they wanted to say. Any witness could obtain assistance from the Crown counsel in presenting evidence if he desired but there was no need to be represented by a lawyer. Witnesses’ expenses would be paid on the same scale as for other commissions of inquiry and for a magistrate’s court.
