BUYINGDEMAND FOR SHARES UNABATED
The New Zealand sharemarket showed resilience yesterday, when after a quiet, and slightly easier opening prices came back to
close on a Rises outnumbered falls in the New Zealand list, on larger movements, and there werq.a few sharp gains.
Trading was heavy over a slightly narrower range. Tasman jumped 40c, to 970 c, in a reaction to the rosy forecasts for the New Zealand forest industry and the good prospects under the Aus-tralian-New Zealand trade agreement. Skellerup Industries ■ continues to be in strong demand and the shares again had a good gain: 25c to 885 c, and sellers were quoted at 900 c
U.E.B. Industries rose another le, to 123 c; the company’s balance date is March 31, but the interim report was good and the company is expected to have a. good year.
The overseas .list was slightly easier, but B.H.P. gained 25c to 1950 c, and C.S.R. sold 15c higher at 715 c.
