Government In Lead (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) BANGKOK, Feb. 11. The ruling Saha-Pracha-Thai Party took the lead today in the early results of yesterday’s General Election in Thailand, outstripping 1 the Opposition Prachathipat Party, which scored heavily in Bangkok. The Government, demonstrating its strength in outlying provinces, has won 39 seats so far, compared with the Opposition’s 32. Independent candidates, usually regarded as Government supporters, have so-far won 29 of the 219 House of Representatives seats at stake. The Opposition swept the board in Bangkok, taking all the city’s 15 seats, as well as six in Thonburi, across the Chao Phya River. The election is the first since democratic organisa-
tions were abolished in 1958 when the late Field Marshal Sarit Thanarat seized power. The final results are not expected until tomorrow.
