Susan Garth’s Hospital
Susan Garth, who started the Biafran Babies’ Appeal in London last year, has undertaken to build a hospital in Libreville, Gabon, for suffering children of all nations.
The President of Gabon has given a beach estate for the hospital building and Miss Garth has put her own considerable funds into the project.
The first children to go into It will be Biafrans. “Until the hospital is built no more children can be brought out to safety,” Miss Garth said In a recent circular to the president of the Christchurch Regional U.N.I.C.E.F. Committee (Mrs Doreen Grant). The U.N.I.C.E.F. committee has already collected $371.75 in Christchurch on behalf of the Susan Garth Biafran Babies Appeal. The committee was willing to accept and forward donations for the children’s hospital in Libreville, Mrs Grant said last evening. Donations may be sent to the Christchurch Regional U.N.I.C.E.F. Committee, P.O. Box 2382, Christchurch.
