Rear-Admiral D. F. Welch, who will year replace Rear-Admiral J. L. Abbot as the commander of the United States Navy's Antarctic support force, is due in Christchurch from the United States on Sunday and on Tuesday, accompanied by Admiral Abbot, will go to the Antarctic for a tour of United States facilities. He will return to Christchurch on Febraury 14 and leave for the United States on February 18. The Solicitor-General (Mr J. C. White) has been appointed Judge Advocate-Gen-eral of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The Rev. A. F. R. Parr, vicar of Leeston since 1964, has been appointed honorary assistant to the Ven. R. O. Williams, vicar of Papanui. Dr D. J. W. Burns, <.’ Lincoln College, has been appointed a fellow and associate at the Harvard Medical School and its affiliated teaching hospitals.—(P.A.)
