LABOUR AT SMELTER

I Comalco, F.O.L. Agree (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. Following discussions on the industrial organisation of labour to be employed on the Bluff aluminium smelter construction contract, the employers. Comalco, and the national executive of the Federation of Labour reached agreement yesterday on procedures to be followed. The parties also agreed that a meeting be held, possibly tomorrow night, between interested union officials of the Otago Trades Council and Comalco representatives in Otago, the secretary of the F.0.L., Mr K. McL. Baxter, said today. A company spokesman said the smelter programme was of national importance, and the company wished to ensure clarification of industrial organisation right from the start.
