Belgian Deputy P.M. Dies
, (N.Z^P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LIEGE (Belgium), Jan. 22. ; The Belgian Deputy-Prime Minister (Mr Joseph Merlot), the senior Socialist in the coalition Government, died in Liege last night of a heart ; attack. He was 55. Mr Merlot, who was also i Economics Minister and the senior Minister in the coalition from Wallonia, the French speaking southern part of Belgium, had been in hospital for almost two weeks after a car accident.
