Israelis Deny Shooting Women
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) GAZA, January 22. The Israeli authorities yesterday declared that Arab terrorists, not Israeli troops, shot 10 Arab women in Rafah.
He said some wounded women said they saw a man in a white sweater and another in an Egyptian camouflage uniform firing. In addition, General Gur said, an Arab ambulance was: standing by in the area before! the shooting started. Israeli soldiers are under!' strict orders not to shoot at/ women and children, and Is-1; raeli officers did not report!' that any civilians were shot— ! only that two or three shots! had been fired into the air. 11
Earlier an Israeli spokes- ■ man had said the shooting ! was done by an Israeli sol- ! dier, and the Defence Minis- < ter (General Moshe Dayan) : i had apologised to the people !of Rafah. : One woman was killed and : the others, including eight , young girls, were injured.
