First Of New Containers

WELLINGTON, Jan. 22.
The first of 100 new rail containers intended to speed the carriage of freight between the four main centres, will begin, service on February ?. Use of the new containers is expected to reduce the time for the transport of goods between Auckland and Christchurch from four days to two. The containers', with a capacity from 10 to 20 tons, were designed by the generalmanager of Daily Freightways (Mr T. Farmer). The company plans to have 500 of these containers in service round New Zealand.
