OVERSEAS

SYDNEY The weaker trend in the mining and oil posts was reversed yesterday with gains in the majority in both sections. Mining stocks had 38 rises to 28 falls and oil stocks produced 27 rises to 12 falls. Industrials were quietly steady. Surveys and Mining reported on copper grades at their Mammoth mine north of Mount Isa; the market responding to a peak of 170 c, closing at 161 c, a net gain of 9c. In the oil stocks Woodside gained 7c to 142 c, Genoa 5c to 56c, and Timor 8c to 118 c. B.H.P. was steady in the industrials, and C.S.R. lost 14c to 622 c.
