Exchange Of Greetings

Greetings to Christchurch from Japan and Fiji were conveyed by scouts attending the jamboree at Kaiapoi last evening when they met the Deputy Mayor (Cr H. P. Smith). From the Mayor of the Japanese city of Kurashiki (Mr Shigeki Oyama) Cr Smith, acting for the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr A. R. Guthrey) received a scroll with a Japanese message of good will, which was transI lated by one of the Japanese contingent. • Cr Smith and his wife were

shown the Japanese part of the camp, and also the plans for the jamboree which will be held in Japan in 1971. From the Japanese camp Cr Smith went to the Fijian camp, where he was given a traditional welcome and took part in a kava-drinking ceremany before receiving a message of good will from the Mayor of Suva (Mr L.
