LOST: ONE LONDON BUS

Six young Englishmen from Southend and Bournemouth are looking for this red, double-decker London bus, which they lost in Los Angeles after travelling 52,000 miles on a two-year trip roun< the world. The 21-year-old bus, which they bought from a scrap yard for £145, and then reconditioned, was taken from a parking lot in Manhattan Beach, south of Los Angeles, on Sunday night, Reuter’s newsagency reports. Ron Sverdloff, aged 24, of Southend, said: “Usually one of us sleeps in the bus. but on Sunday night we had two parties going ... we didn’t realise it was stolen until next morning.” He said that about SUS2OOO worth of photographic equipment was locked inside the passenger compartment The photograph shows the bus in Cathedral Square, Christchurch, in September last year. At that time it had travelled about 40,000 miles through 18 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.
