Complaint By Biafrans

(N.Z.P.A. -Reuter— ■Copyright) UMUAHIA, Jan. 7

Coinciding with the opening of the Commonwealth Prime Ministers' Conference in London, the Biafran Ministry of Information has issued a statement declaring that the present Nigerian Government is illegitimate. The statement says: "The present Nigerian Government came to power by violence and has never put its popularity to test, nor has it allowed people a free hand to express their opinion of it. “Since General Gowon assumed office in Lagos, the people of Eastern Nigeria, now Biafra, have never acknowledged him as the head of the Government of Nigeria, and he has been able to maintain his authority in Western Nigeria only by force of arms, by stationing northern troops there."
