Oil Rig Leak Plugged

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE, Jan. 5. The American oil and gas fire expert, Mr Paul (“Red”) Adair left Australia yesterday

for another trouble spot, the San Fernando Valley, in California, where leaking gas from an oil rig has burst into flames. He returned to Melbourne; from Sale, where he had sue-, cessfully killed a gas blow-out ! at the Esso-B.H.P. Marlin offshore drilling platform. Mr Edward Stanley, Esso’s j production manager for Aus-' tralia, said the effect of the leak had been to make production more expensive, but! not much gas had been lost.'
