Five Finish In Gliding

Three Christchurch pilots were among the five to complete the task set in the second competitive day of the national gliding championships at Omarama yesterday. Thirteen competitors started on a round course of about 65 miles from Omarama to Irishman Creek and back. The start was delayed until midday because of unsuitable weather in the morning. Placings were: S. H. Georgeson (Christchurch), in an S.H.K., 1:54.5, 1; I. Dryde (Auckland), Libelle, 2:8, 2; E. Carr (Christchurch), Dart 15, 2:39.5, 3; I. Coutts (Christchurch), Olympia 463, 2:52.5, 4; A. Barrow (Nelson), Ka 6. 3:11.5, 5. Conditions later in the afternoon were difficult, but Georgeson, who was one of the early starters, was able to put up a good time. The championships will finish on January 15.
