Train Hits Box

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 6. A few minutes before a train carrying 270 members •of the Boys’ Brigade was due at Auckland railway station today a goods train struck a signal box and Was derailed. Although one corner of the signal box was extensively damaged the signalling equipment was not' affected and the incoming

train was diverted to another platform. Neither of the two men on duty in the box was injured. One of the signalmen, Mr S. G. Ladd, said that at first he had thought there had been an explosion. A mobile crane cleared most of the wreckage and the platform was reopened about three hours after the incident.
