Study Of Leprosy
New Zealanders have paid for a Samoan doctor to study leprosy in Fiji. Dr P. Solia’s expenses were met by the Lepers’ Trust Board’s Twomey Scholar Fund, which was established to meet the cost of training native doc- 1 tors, particularly those studying leprosy. In his re-j port, Dr Solia refers to the psychological aspect ofi treatment. “Trying to get the. patient back into a happier: frame of mind is just as im-j portant as treatment by drugs i when it comes to seeking a! cure for leprosy,” he says. Dr Solia has returned to the! leprosarium at Apia. !,
