Gibraltar
Sir, —The latest United Nations demands on Great Britain for the handing over of Gibraltar are meant to coincide with the forthcoming meeting of Commonwealth Prime Ministers. This phoney “empire” has been well and truly communised since independence, and these conferences serve no useful purpose other than propaganda. Gibraltar is of the greatest strategic importance for the security of the west and must be preserved at all costs. Owing to the lack of success in other parts of the world the Communist bloc is resorting to blackmail and! Harold Wilson now finds him-| self in the same position as lan Smith of Rhodesia andj the testing time has now| arrived.—Yours, etc., X.U.K. I December 20. 1968.
