PUILIC NOTICES PAPARUA COUNTY COUNCIL RESTRICTION ON LIGHTING OF FIRES PURSUANT to Section 20 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, the lighting of fires in the open throughout that area of the Paparua County included in the Selwyn Fire Group is prohibited as from Tuesday December 24, 1968, unless special permission to burn between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. has been obtained from the Area Warden. Written permits will not be issued but before a fire is lighted verbal permission must be given by the Warden or Deputy Warden who shall be the sole judge of the suitability of the conditions. Full responsibility for keeping a fire under control rests with the person lighting such fire even though permission has been given for burning. Fire breaks 33ft wide must be ploughed around all Areas to be burnt. The following is a list of Wardens and Deputy Wardens appointed by the Council to the areas described: HALKETT AREA bounded by Intake, Halkett, Sandy Knolls. West Coast and Weedons Ross Roads.
