U.S. Couple Has "Dream House”
A “dream house” in Akron, Ohio, is the home of Mrs Earl Hathaway, wife of the world president of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of America.
“I am very Interested in home planning, and we built this house, without the help of an architect, seven years ago,” Mrs Hathaway said in Christchurch yesterday. “We found we had different needs when our children got married and left us, but we wanted room for them when they came to stay.” The answer was a Frenchstyle house with three wings. It has six bedrooms at the front and the living quarters are at the back, overlooking a wooded area. There is also a garage and a swimming pool. “It is furnished with a mixture of traditional and French articles, some of them inherited antiques. There is no modern furniture, although we have all the latest home appliances,” Mrs Hathaway said. Mr Hathaway travels ex.
