(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) MONTE CARLO. A total of 204 crews will start in next year’s Monte Carlo rally from January 17 to 24. the organisers announced yesterday. Twenty more crews will cover the same routes and undergo the same special speed tests in the “Rallye Mediterranee," a new cup event restricted to prototype and modified prototype machines.

These cannot take part in the rally proper, as prototypes are not allowed in events counting for the European rally championship. Of the eight starting points. Monte Carlo was the most popular with 50 cars, followed by Rheims (42), Frankfurt (34), Athens (26), London (24), Oslo (21), Warsaw (15) and Lisbon (12).
