TWO NEW PLAYS
Two new plays by the Christchurch playwright, Max B. Richards, will be staged by the Bedford Theatre Club on Sunday and Monday. They are “Cinderella Jones,” a psychological drama, and “Omar and Abraham,” a comedy. The author will produce “Cinderella Jones.” which will feature Gail Fisher in the lead as Trish, Tony Blackett as Barney, the travelling - talesman, and Robin Queree as Rots, Trish’s husband. “Omar and Abraham,” which is set beside tbe swimming pool of a prime minister and is something of a political satire, will be produced by Brian de Ridder, who has already produced two Richards plays this year—one of which, “Waltz of the Apples,” won acclaim at the Universities Arts Festival in Auckland. David McPhail will play the Prime Minister, and James Wright the old man, Omar. The television producer, Kim Gabara, will make his first Christchurch stage appearance as the Secret Service man, and a Welsh-born actor. John Bach, will complete the coast as Abraham, a typical modern youth.
