Record Catch

In the annual Forrest Cup cricket match between West Coast and Buller at the week-end, E. Tait, the Buller all-rounder, took eight catches in West Coast’s second innings. By doing so, he may have created a world record. In Wisden’s, which deals only with first-class records, M. J. Stewart and A. S. drown hold the recognised world record with seven catches. In “The Guinness Book of Records.” which probably covers all grades of cricket, the record is also given as seven. Tait fielded in the slips and at mid-on during the innings.
