BEEF HERD INCREASE
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 8. The Department of Lands and Survey beef herd had increased 11.6 per cent to 243,000 in the last year, the Minister of Lands (Mr MacIntyre) said in Parliament on Friday. Mr Maclntyre said every effort was being made to improve the quality as well as the quantity of the herd. The economics of running the herd without sheep to assist in returns was also being investigated.
