COASTER SOLD

Road Freight Competition (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 5. Road freighting is continuing to take a toll of coastal shipping. The 75-foot coaster Onewa, which runs a regular service from Auckland to Coromandel and Kawau Island, is being sold to a new owner because of road competition. Her new owner, Mr A. R. Rusden, said he intends to sail the Onewa to a coral reef off New Caledonia with salvage gear for the Matipo.

Mr Rusden is owner-man-ager of the Matipo, which went aground on the reef in May while carrying cargo from Auckland to the islands.
