FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex depression covering New Zealand is moving slowly east. Forecast: Canterbury.—Southerly winds, strong in the north and fresh elsewhere; overcast and mild, with long periods of rain, heavy at times about and north of Banks Peninsula but mainly light in the south. Buller and Westland.—Moderate to fresh easterlies; occasional showers in Buller and north Westland, but cloudy weather elsewhere ; moderate temperatures, Nelson.—Southerly winds, gradually freshening; rain clearing from the west later in the day; mild. Marlborough.—Southerly wjnds, strong at times in exposed places; overcast, with occasional rain; cooler. Outlook.—South-westerlies and scattered showers. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
