OVERSEAS TRADING

SYDNEY The Prime Minister's statement last night on overseas buying of shares in Australian companies had little if any effect on the Sydney market. The English Redland group continued to buy Concrete Industries shares at 98c and one sale of 400.000 was reported. ConCrete directors will call a meeting of shareholders early in the New Year to limit the voting power of overseas holders in line with Mr Gorton's proposals. B.H.P. recovered a further 40c to 1920 c. Interest tn mining shares slackened and the trend here was weaker; Ml Isa losing 12c to 078 c, but C.R.A. and King Island were slightly better. Woodside climbed 14c to 243 c on the day's heaviest trading but the rest of the oil post showed little significant change.
