RETURN OF B GRADE
Men’s National Basketball (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The national council of the New Zealand Men’s Basketball Association has decided to reintroduce B grade championships to the tournament programme. Until two seasons ago the North Island conducted championships for B grade teams but this was dropped. Members said the main problem would be classifying the provincial associations into A and B grades. The tournament committee asked to investigate the matter further, but was also given authority to start B grade tournaments next season.
At present smaller associations, not strong enough to compete in the A grade tournaments, have virtually no competition. This move would enable them to attend national tournaments and not be 'too much out of theit depth.
