OCEAN RACE

Big Entry Already (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The 1969 Auckland-Suva (ocean yacht race is likely to be a minor classic, with more than 40 yachts taking part. Entries at this stage are already 20 per cent above those at the same stage in 1966. The Royal Akarana Yacht Club is screening the entries [carefully to make sure that [every starter is up to the ’high standard now required for ocean events. Some of the “glamour” names in New Zealand ocean racing such as Fidelis (J. Davern) and Rainbow II (C. Bouzaid) have not yet been entered, but the usual lastminute rush is expected. The 1969 race will begin from Orakei, on April 19.

K.O. to Saijyo.— The newly crowned world feather-weight champion. Shozo Saijyo. of Japan, knocked out Flash Besande. of the Philippines, in the eighth round of their 10round non-title boxing match in Tokyo on Monday.

Honolulu Bout.— C. Dunn, of Whangarei, holder of the Auckland amateur heavy weight boxing title, will fight the Tongan champion in Honolulu on November 30. He has been selected to make the trip by the 'New Zealand Boxing AssociaIlion.
