Tourist In N.Z. “To Be Different”
Miss Cora Phillips, of Seattle, is visiting New Zealand because she likes “to do things a little bit differently.”
“Everybody goes to Europe,” she said in Christchurch yesterday. “I have never been there and don’t particularly want to go. I came to New Zealand because not so many people seem to come and I thought it would be different.”
For the last 15 years, Miss Phillips, who works for a marine insurance company, has spent her vacations travelling. She has been throughout Canada and the United States, and has also visited Mexico, Panama and Nor Way.
She has a trip every second or third year. “I am just an
orindary working girl. I have to save up enough money before I go.” The countryside and the people of New Zealand have impressed Miss Phillips.
