Horse-naming Contest

A “name the horses” competition with a prize of a fortnight’s holiday in New York as the guest of Yonkers Raceway is to be run by the New Zealand Trotting Conference. An outline of the competition was given yesterday by the president of the conference (Mr A. J. Nicoll, of Ashburton). The competition will be outlined in a brochure released first at the Auckland and Rangi|ora meetings on December 21, and it will close on January 31. It is hoped that results will be available towards the end of March .

Entrants in the competition would be required to name three yearlings listed in the brochure, and also name 12 parts of the harness of a horse shown in a diagram. There will be numerous secondary prizes in the competition. the runner-up receiving a week-end in Sydney as the guest of the New South Wales Trotting Club.
