Nor’west Tradition

North-west winds and high temperatures—traditional for People’s Day at the Christchurch Show—are predicted by the Weather Office for today. Temperatures are expected to be in the 70s and partly cloudy skies are forecast Show day last year did not live up to the tradition and was wet and cold with a biting southerly wind. In common with most other parts of the country, Christchurch had warm temperatures yesterday. In the Botanic Gardens at 3 p.m. the temperature was 70 degrees and the maximum reading at Harewood was 71 degrees, also recorded at 3 p.m. The day was clear and fine, with light east to north-east winds.

Higher temperatures have been recorded at Harewood on three previous occasions this month —79 degrees on November 8, 75 degrees on November 10 and 74 degrees on November 3.
