AN EXPENSIVE VIOLIN.—Mr J. Morrison, a London bank officer, with the Stradivarius violin he bought at Sotheby’s for £22,000. The instrument belonged to the late Marie Hall, whose daughter. Miss P. Baring (left), put it up for auction. It took Mr Morrison only 50 seconds to buy the violin, which he says he will play alone at home.
