DORIES FOUND
Incident Off Whakatane (N Z. Press Association) TAURANGA, Nov. 13. Several Japanese fishing dories, located by the Royal New Zealand Navy’s fisheries protection vessel Kahawai off Whakatane early today, were ordered to lift their lines and proceed to sea, a Navy spokesman from Auckland told 'the “Bay of Plenty Times” in a telephone interview this morning. The dories, when the interception was made, were within the six-mile fishing limit. The Kahawai, commanded by Lieutenant M. Hazel, made the interception about 6.30 a m., and late this morning was supervising the lifting of the lines and the departure outside the limit by the dories. One of the dories had actually been apprehended by the Kahawai, the Naval spokesman said, but it was not possible to make any “arrest" of such craft unless they were within the threemile fishing limit.
