TERMS IN DISPUTE

Boxer, Assn Disagree (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. Fred Taupola, the New Zealand middle-weight champion, and the Auckland Boxing Association are disputing the size of the purse for a title defence. Taupola is demanding $lOOO and has already rejected an offer of $6OO from the A.B.A. Unless Taupola defends the title before next February, he will be automatically disqualified as champion. He won the championship with an eighth round technical knock-out over Billy Opetala in Auckland on August 19, and was given six months to defend it. Taupola said he was only prepared to accept the A. offer of $6OO for a nqn-title fight. “This title is worth $1000,” Taupola said; “I won’t fight for anything less.” The A.B.A. president. Mr B. R. Homblow, said that under no circumstances could his association offer Taupola $lOOO.
