McNamara To Turn Pro. <N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. G. McNamara, captain of the New Zealand amateur boxing team which toured the South Pacific last month, seems certain to turn professional early next year. McNamara's trainer. Mr L. Rackley, confirmed this from Nelson. “He is keen to turn pro,” Mr Rackley said. “Graham said his future was up to me, and 1 feel he’s wasting time as an amateur now.
“I am quite satisfied he would go well against the lesser professional middleweights. "He's not keen to fight as an amateur again. If he can get fights as a professional, he will turn. Otherwise, he will help in the gym.” The president of the Nelson Boxing Association, Mr S. J. Guppy, said that his association would be pleased to arrange fights for McNamara in Nelson.
