Riccarton’s Narrow Victory
Riccarton held off a strong challenge to beat Linwood II on a game decision in the third round of the senior table tennis competition last evening. J. Armstrong won all his singles matches for Riccarton while L. Vallance scored good wins over J. Lelllott and H. Sargent for Linwod 11. M. Warren gave an excellent display for Avonside II by beating J. E. Kyle and G. W. Makinson in the contest against Linwood I. M. Flewellen also beat Kyle and defeated G. R. Saunders in straight games. A. Renwick gave one of his best displays to beat all three members of the Selwyn team. However, his efforts were not supported by his team members who failed to score a singles victory. In the remaining contest, a weak Wallabies team defeated an even weaker Avonside 111, 8-4. Points. Wallabies.
