(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LAUREL (Maryland). Sir Ivor, the Irish Epsom Derby winner, won the Washington international and a purse of $88,298 yesterday with a great finishing burst. L. Piggott. Britain’s champion rider, always had the Irishtrained colt handy in the field of eight. A smooth burst of acceleration in the final furlong of the mile and a half race carried him to victory by threequarters of a length. Second and third places went to the two United States repreresentatdves. Czar Alexander took second by a nose from last year’s winner, Fort Marcy. On soft going, the winner’s time was 2min 37 l-ssec and was well outside the race record of 2min 23 4-ssec by Kelso in 1964.

Sir Ivor’s purse took his total earnngs in win money this season to more than $285,734. As well as the Epsom Derby, he won the Newmarket 2000 Guineas and the Champion Stakes at Newmarket.
