COMMITTEE REFORMED

Air Pollution “Problems”

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 12. The Board of Health will re-establish its air-pollution committee to consider the adequacy of present air-pollu-tion legislation, and to make recommendation to the board and the Minister of Health (Mr McKay). Mr McKay, in a statement today, said that such action was being taken at his request because of the many representations he had received from organisations and persons during the last few years. “New problems in air pollution have convinced me that the time has come to have them examined by a technical committee with the qualifications needed to assess the adequacy of our present legislation on this subject.” he said.

Since the committee went into recess about four years ago, said Mr McKay, the board’s local-authority affairs committee had held a watching brief on air-pollution mat-! ters.
