UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO SYSTEMS ANALYST/PROGRAMMER THE UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO is currently developing an information system, based on the University’s computer, for the University Administration. This involves the areas of Student Records, Student Statistics, Student Bursaries, Staff Payroll and General Accounts. One systems analyst is already employed, and we require a second person to assist in the design and implementation of the system. Once this system is designed and operating, we intend developing a system for the University Library. The computing equipment available is an IBM System 360 Model 30 with 32K bytes of storage, card reader, lineprinter and two disc drives. Plans are in hand for expansion of this system. We intend programming the Information System largely in the new language PL/I. Previous experience in computing systems, programming and/or systems analysis is desirable but not essential as we are prepared to train an applicant with other suitable experience. A University degree is highly desirable. Salary will depend on previous experience and qualifications, and will be fully competitive.
