LAHORE MARCH

Police Use Sticks

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) RAWALPINDI, Nov. 12

Police charged a procession of slogan-shouting students with lathis (heavy’ staves) yesterday in the northern Pakistan city of Lahore, which experienced its third day of disturbances. The students were marching from the District Court where the former Foreign Minister, Mr Zulficar Ali Bhutto, was addressing lawyers.

The demonstrators hurled stones at the police who chased them in trucks and buses.

In Karachi, authorities prepared for possible further student violence after troops moved in last night at Now shera, 80 miles north-west of this capital city, where one person was killed in student demonstrations on Sunday. In Rawalpindi, which was the scene of week-end violence in which three people died, a curfew imposed on Friday was relaxed yesterday.
