RECRUITING CAMPAIGN
j 47 Apply To i Join Navy Thirty-nine boys and eight girls in Canterbury and on the West Coast applied to join the Royal New Zealand Navy during the final recruiting tour of 1968 by the naval ' recruiter in Christchurch (Chief Petty Officer R. Lasseter). : In Christchurch yesterday (Mr Lasseter said 11 boys were examined for junior entry into the various branches of the Navy. On his recent tour of the West Coast 14 boys and two girls applied. At Ashburton : there were three boys and one girl and at Tirnaru three girls and eight boys. Two girls will face the reIcruiting board today in Christchurch. j Those selected for entry (into the Navy in January will (not be known until late this month, said Mr Lasseter. He said he was expecting to see a number of girls in ithe next two weeks who had made application for direct entry as Wren cadet officers.
