Lights not ready

Because the new lighting system at English Park has not been completed, the Christchurch track cycling committee has been forced to hold its first few meetings on Sunday afternoons, beginning tomorrow. This is the first time that the clubs—amateur, cash and novice—have held their races on a Sunday, instead of the usual Wednesday evening. The delay in getting some necessary parts to finish the project means that the Sunday meetings are likely to go on well into December. New underground wiring has been put in and new pylons erected, but the reflectors round the lights have not arrived and it is likely to be some time before they do.
