Feverish activity in Silver Valley for the second day running, and a late run on Oil Search were the highlights of an otherwise fairly uneventful day. Silver Valley closed unchanged at Me. Oil Search in keen demand, at the close of business having added 4c to 52c. Nickels were uneven; Great Boulder firmed 10c to 810 c but Metafls Exploration lost 30c to 510 c. Western Mining eased 10c. One line of 10,000 Bank of New South Wales was sold at 050 c, 10c below the last sale which was 8c down on the day. B.H.P. also faded with the last sale at 1795 c, a Los's of 25c.

MELBOURNE The market was firm in quiet trading; most mining, issues advanced moderately but Great Boulder. Nth Kalg. and Hampton Areas each lost 30c to 800 c, 560 c and 360 c respectively. Gold Fields made 30c at 730 c while King Island Scheelite rose 70c to 1300 c after sales at 1320 c, on ex div basis, after directors* acceptance of Cons Gold’s latest offer. Peko Wallsend, the other bidder for K.I.S. made 25c at 1005 c.
