Vegetable And Fruit Prices
Supplies of cooking vegetables were a little better than last week at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday and according to an auctioneer price* of some vegetables were more reasonable. Potatoes soCd from 80c to 31.30 a sugar bag, 10c cheaper than last Thursday, and lettuces which were from 50c to 81.50 a case, dropped to from Wc to 81.50 a case. Radishes were also 40c a dozen cheaper at up to 70c and parsley was down 3c a bunch from Bc. Carrots, however, which sold at to H a cate last week rose to 34 a case for old carrots and 85.20 for the new season's. Cauliflowers were OOc dearer at up to 32.80 a case and the price of tomatoes increased from to 38c per lb (O 38c per lb. The price for grapefruit remained steady at to 83.50 a case, but supplies were not so plentiful). Chfneee gooseberries wore on hand and sold to 32.50 The official price range Supplied by the Christchurch Fruit and vegetable Wholesalers’ Association for other vegetables 13:— Sliver Beet.—To 31.40 a case.
