Galilee May Win Stakes
(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. Galilee; which has drifted from Melbourne Cup favouritism in the last two weeks, may win the Turnbull Stakes (1$ miles) at Flemington today. The New Zealand-bred champion has only four rivals, and bookmakers believe he has only to go round to collect first prize of 83500. Galilee slipped from cup favour after his defeat in the Craiglee Stakes at Flemington on September 14 and the top form hit by Lowland, which now heads Caulfield and Melbourne Cups markets. But if he performs well and pulls up in good shape today, his cup odds will tighten.
