“The Press” Price
The price of “The Press” in all areas will be increased from Monday, October 14, to 4c a copy, the ruling rate for the great majority of newspapers in this country.
The increase has been made necessary by steadily increasing costs of production. including wage increases under the various industrial awards governing the newspaper industry. It is only the second over-all increase in the price of “The Press” since December, 1956. The general price was increased from 3d to 4d in August, 1966; but on the introduction of decimal currency in July last year the weekly subscription rate in the dty area—the major part of the paper’s circulation— was fixed at 19c instead of the strict conversion rate of 20c, and the price for casual sales was increased to 4c a copy.
